Many people do not want squirrels eating from their bird feeders because squirrels just scare away all the birds and eat all the birdseed. Here are a few tips to help you squirrel-proof your bird feeder.
The first tip you will want to try is to make your pole, if you use one to hang your feeder on, less climbable. You can try attaching a squirrel baffle to the pole. Some people even use a slinky to wrap around the pole. This makes it more difficult for the squirrel to climb up the pole.
Another tip would be to try a caged bird feeder or a squirrel-resistant bird feeder. Just keep in mind that most caged bird feeders will only allow small birds in and also if the squirrel is small enough, it may still get inside the cage.
The last tip would be to try feeding the squirrels. If you offer squirrels their own food, like dry corn cobs on their own feeder, they may leave your bird feeder alone. You could also make a simple feeder yourself for this purpose.
So these are just a few tips to help you squirrel-proof your feeder so that you can better enjoy those birds.
